about us

all because of one little boy

Noah’s Hope is a special ministry born out of heartbreaking loss. Expecting their third son, in August 2006, Kristin and Mike Koning went in for a routine doctor visit at 15 weeks. What an ultrasound that day revealed would change their lives forever. The doctor told them that their baby, Noah, had a genetic syndrome incompatible with life. The Konings were heartbroken, but trusted in the One who holds the future. Their church family rallied around them, supporting them in prayer. Noah defied the odds and the doctor's predictions and was born alive at 34 weeks. Mike and Kristin cherish the two hours they had to hold and love Noah here on earth. In honor of what would have been Noah's first birthday some friends from church helped Kristin put together some special gifts to give to the hospital for other families experiencing the loss of a baby. This project in memory of Noah continued each year, and as the Headwaters Church family embraced this outreach of love it

Loving the Brokenhearted SIGN UP TO HELP Hope and Healing   In 2007 Kristin Koning and friends at Headwaters Church (then Wallen) launched Noah's Hope to remember Kristin's son Noah and give something to the hospitals to help other mom's through loss.Over 1,500 memory books and over 2000 Bears have been given since then.   Never could we have imagined that all these years later the gathering to assemble bears would become a ministry in and of itself—a place of healing and connection for women in our church and community.   What an honor to hear so many stories of precious babies dearly loved and gone too soon. We honor their legacies in our work at Noah's Hope Events. The Numbers Did you know that 1 in 4 women will experience miscarriage, infant loss or still birth?   Did you know that each year around 150 mothers leave our local hospitals with empty arms.   That’s about 30-40 from each hospital.   The Bears The first Noah Bear was given in 2008. Baby Bears: especially for siblings saying hello and goodbye to a baby brother or sister who doesn’t come home

As we’ve worked with local hospitals we have learned of a need for bears that could be given to siblings. Each Baby Bear comes with a special note to the child, offering understanding and hope in their unique grief. We pray these “Baby Bears” will bring comfort to children in a confusing and painful time as well as offer a tangible connection to the brother or sister who did not come home from the hospital.  The name for this special sibling bear comes from Noah's big brother, Drew. Drew was 2 when he named a tiny bear he received when Noah was born "Baby Bear".  Drew took Baby Bear everywhere he went for a long long time. We hope these gifts will be as special to the siblings who receive them as the original Baby Bear was to Drew.
